One of my patients just recently had a premature baby and since bringing the baby home the baby has had constipation, colic, acid reflux, and constant choking. The mom was distraught and very upset. The baby had to sleep in a infant car seat so the reflux wouldn’t wake up him. The baby’s pediatrician referred her to a pediatric neurologist. She was going to make the appointment but she found out that his next available appointment was 4 months out. Of course she did not want her baby to suffer so she asked me if chiropractic could help her poor baby. I said if his spine was misaligned in some way and is putting pressure on the spinal nerves or the spinal cord then yes chiropractic can help. She decided to bring him in and have me check him. During the examination, I found some major misalignments in his neck and lower back region. With a gentle adjustment on this 6 week old baby, I was able to reduce the pressure on the nerves and the spinal cord. That night this baby had the best night of sleep ever. The was no reflux to agitate him. He was not choking. His colic had improved and his bowel movements are working the way it should be. His last adjustment was 5 days ago and I just saw his mom today for her regular adjustment and she told me that he is still doing very well. She can’t wait to bring him in again to continue the success and build on from here. His life, his health is completely changed and of course for the parents, they have a more normal life and a “brand new” baby. I was honored to be that baby’s treating doctor and I new that the power of an adjustment can do wonders for that baby. Now, the baby doesn’t have to see that neurologist!
