I got some vegetables at Central Market and mixed it with my Organic Co-op veggies
I am thrilled to be be feeling so good after 14 days of this detox program. I have really stuck to the recommendations of the program, making 2-3 shakes a day, taking all of my vitamins, and doing my routine workouts. The above dish was some stir fry vegetable medley from Central Market combined with my organic vegetables from my organic Co-op and a small portion of some organic chicken. I have lost nearly 5 pounds but the best thing about this so far is that I wake up full of energy. My mental clarity is so much better and my hormones are more leveled. I feel that anyone on this detox will appreciate how good they CAN feel when we don’t bombard our bodies with junk! No white carbs, no sugar, no caffeine, no trans-fats, no wheat, no soy, no dairy, no corn, no soft drinks, no non-organic meats. My body is ridding the toxic chemicals that I have accumulated over my lifetime. I can’t wait to see and feel the end result of this detox and definitely will continue many of the attributes of this detox for life.
Part of a healthy diet is getting your omega-3’s. Omega-3 is known for it’s anti-inflammatory behaviors, superb support of the cardiovascular system, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and the ability to give you great looking skin, hair, fingernails. Therefore omega-3’s are considered anti-aging. You can get omega-3’s from many sources but the two with the highest amounts is fish and flax oil. Fish oil has two types of omega-3’s, DHA and EPA. These types of omegas are good for the heart and the brain (EPA is an anti-inflammatory and can reduce high blood pressure). Flax oil does not contain DHA and EPA, however, it does contain an omega-3 called ALA, an essential fatty acid that our body cannot make on its own. When you ingest ALA, it can eventually make DHA and EPA and all other types of omega-3’s that your entire body needs. Every cell in your body needs these omega-3’s. So, looks like flax is the better choice in omegas? Not necessarily. You see the wonderful thing about flax oil is that the ALA can make just the right amount of DHA and EPA for your body and won’t make any excess that can cause complications. At the same time, our body is not very good at converting ALA to other omega-3’s and when we get older this process gets less efficient, so we end up needing to take high dosages of ALA to maintain proper support in comparison to fish oil. Fish oil on the other hand can contain moderate to high levels of mercury and many have said that the manufacturing process of creating the DHA and EPA can produce toxicity in our fish oils. What do you do? I feel it’s best to eat well rounded meals that include healthy servings of fish. Fish that you get at the supermarket should be “wild catch” not farm raised. And take your flax oil along with eating your fish. Why not have the best of both worlds! When selecting fish oil supplements, look for high quality fish oil. This way you reduce the chances of mercury toxicity and other contaminants when it is processed. In our office we supply the highest grade of fish oil possible. Please don’t go to Costco and get the jumbo size fish oil gelcaps for $15. It’s not worth it! Well, as of today I am half way through the cleanse! If you have started and you are right behind me, great work, if you have not started yet…what are you waiting for? Join in! I know that you have heard me say this many times, but this cleanse is structured in a very easy to follow step by step way. It may take a few days to get the hang of making the shakes and taking the supplements, but really it is not difficult! I can’t believe how easy it is and how even just eleven days into it, my mind is not on food! The real amazing results is how I am feeling! I really am feeling so light and full of energy. You have heard me say many times before that you should not be suffering through a cleanse. If you are experiencing headaches, fatigue, or just overall feeling terrible during a cleanse then it is probable too harsh. Of course the first three days you may feel withdraw from the caffeine or sugar that you are no longer having, but after it is out of your system, you should start feeling better and better. This cleanse is great for the gentle, but yet effective properties! If you were at my Yoga Island lecture you know how toxicity easily builds up in our systems. There are chemicals in everything and it is astounding what is in our food. If you want a real motivator to starting the cleanse, I recommend you watch Food INC. and learn how our food is processed and arrives on our plate!
I want you all to know that I am here for you! Our entire staff is as well. They have all been through the cleanse. It may seem intimidating at first, but once you start you will soon realize there’s little to be afraid of. Keep it simple. Don’t feel like you need to eat gourmet. Just buy a few of your favorite items and keep week one easy. Save trying new things for weeks two and three. We all need to do a cleanse at least twice a year. Don’t let these deadly toxins build up in your body and increase you chances for ill health. Make the commitment to yourself and those that love you! Don’t forget to get your regular adjustments to keep you nervous system functioning at it’s highest capacity! Until next time…

I’ve been watching the news a lot lately and all I hear about is Tiger this and Tiger that! It’s unfortunate what has happened to him the past week….and maybe the past two years, supposedly. He is a great athlete and even a great athlete like him who gets into a car accident like this recent one can cause some damage to his spine. It’s been researched that an accident at ONLY 4mph can cause your spinal vertebra to shift out of position. Four miles per hour is like someone backing into your parked car. Tiger, with all of his drama, should see a chiropractor immediately to make sure that there is no long term spinal misalignments from this accident. I’m sure he already has since I know he has his own personal chiropractor. So whether you are hurt or not in any car accident, always seek a chiropractor to perform a full spinal evaluation. It can save you from having problems down the road. For more information visit our website www.bestlifechiro.com
